Do you know it is illegal to prepare and bake and then sell food, baked goods, cupcakes, cookies and cakes, etc from your home?
You must have a food license and council permission.
Your kitchen must meet the food standards to be issued a yearly food license.
Have you the necessary food and health safety training and certificates?
If you do not have a licensed kitchen and are selling cakes/  advertising your products you are breaking the law.
You will not be insured, should you have a liability suit made against you.

What is covered in your course.

Jackie will assist in completing your application and give advice on the following.
Registration and licensing requirements, the varying council requirements, and Environmental health and food licensing.
Regardless if you are in Logan, Brisbane, or Perth the food licensing laws are all national, however, the various councils have different requirements.
Public liability what do you really need?
Record maintaining what must be done?
What are the costs involved, food safety supervisors’ certificates, and organizing meetings with council planning and the EHO?
All of this is covered in a 3-hour workshop. Jackie will show you her licensed home kitchen and advise you of what is required
Jackie will provide a step-by-step folder of what needs to be done, the stages, and the costs, and assist you with your applications to achieve a food license for your home.

You will be ready to submit your application to the council and proceed with clarity within days.

Food Safety Supervisors Course

 

You must obtain the following qualification, or within 30 days of obtaining your food license.

Gain the Qualification that Allows You to Manage Food Handling in QLD, VIC, WA, NT, & SA The cost of the online course is $89

SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety
SITXFSA002 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices

This course provides the nationally recognised certificate for SITXFSA001 Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety & SITXFSA002 Participate in Safe Food Handling Practices and allows you to work in the hospitality sector.

You must be assessed after the course and Jackie can be the nominated assessor.

Jackie will sign off the food safety supervisor's course once you have completed it and assess you.
The cost to assess you is $60

In this workshop, you will cover many topics including, cake pricing, quotes, your safety, consultations, advertising, marketing.
What extras can give your business the edge over others?
We will discuss delivery and transporting cakes, public liability, quotes deposits, and balances.
You will be given a folder containing valuable information to help run your cake business.

I engaged Jackie from Contemporary Cakes and Classes to advise me on the council requirements and the application process to having my home-based cake business licenced.

I decided to have a 1 on 1 session where Jackie came to my home and we worked through what was expected of a home-based kitchen with Brisbane City Council.
