Cake Decorating Classes Students reviews.

Why you should book a class.

I recently attended some cake decorating classes with Jackie and I was very pleased!

Jackie is a patient and conscientious teacher who really takes the time to make sure you understand what you are doing and that you get all the techniques right.

My friends, colleagues, and family are all amazed at the beautiful cakes and cupcakes that I've been able to create so far - I've already had people asking me to make cakes for them!!

I'll definitely be heading back for some more classes to expand my knowledge even further.

I have just spent the day with Jackie learning how to make and decorate cupcakes using fondant.

This is a first for me and I have to say I am very proud of my cupcakes. These beautiful creations were only made possible because of the very patient tutor and her willingness to go to great lengths to explain everything in detail.

Thank you Jackie for a wonderful experience. I learned so much and I appreciate the fact that you were willing to share some of your secrets to making the perfect cupcake.

Yes, I learnt so many wonderful tips that I would have never found out. I can use them to tackle my son’s next birthday cake with confidence!

I absolutely loved the class. Jackie, you have so much passion/knowledge and it certainly shows in your work. I am eager to complete another course.

I attended the mud cake class today and have done fondant decorating classes with Jackie. Absolutely fantastic the knowledge you acquire, and you go home with the most perfectly decorated cake even as a complete novice.

I have cooked hundreds of cakes in my life but I still attended the mud cake cooking class today because I know from past experience I would walk away with tips & tricks - light bulb moments! And I did again today, Jackie taught us a very simple method of lining a cake tin, I cannot believe I've been doing it any other way and why I didn't figure it out for myself before. Jackie has the best ganache recipe I've ever used and I've tried many over the years. She is very generous with her knowledge and I also picked up a great recipe for my school tuckshop as well as the details of a supplier I can use for equipment. Most of all I had lots of fun. Cannot recommend Jackie's classes enough, you will get lots of value for your investment.

Jackie is a fantastic teacher over the last couple of years I have had the pleasure of attending a number - 5 or more of Jackie's classes and the passion for cake decorating has been passed on to me.

Her lessons are full of knowledge, fun, and most of all enjoyable. The best bit is taking home the finished product knowing that you have made it.
Jackie has a beautiful studio and display of amazing cakes and more you can learn to make.
Thank you, Jackie, for sharing your knowledge, passion, and skills I know I appreciate it, my workmates and friends do as well as they have been able to eat the finished product.

Cake Decorating Classes at Contemporary Cakes and Classes

I was looking for a cake decorating course that would provide me with the basics of cake decorating, in a professional environment, with a reputable and highly skilled teacher.

After much research, I decided to give one of the Contemporary Cakes courses a go.

Jackie was fun, knowledgeable, and patient.

Over a year I ended up attending 3 more classes and loved them all.  I learned so much and it really inspired me to continue with cake decorating.

Unfortunately, a move interstate means that I am unable to visit Jackie as frequently as I would like, but I have now applied the skills and techniques I developed in her courses to my own small business in Sydney.  Thank you Jackie for the inspiration and drive to keep going with my passion. I would highly recommend her courses to anyone who would like to learn more about cake decorating.

I did a cake course at Contemporary Cakes and it was excellent!

Not only was Jacqui very helpful, but she was also very patient no matter how many times mistakes were made because it was all learning.

Jacqui has a natural knack to teach classes on cake decorating hence her big following. Thank you again, Jacqui!! Xo

Hi Jackie,
I just wanted to send an email of thanks for yesterday’s workshop. I absolutely loved the day, and am so proud of the cake I made.

I proudly showed the cake off today, and then finally took the plunge and cut it this afternoon and shared it with family and friends.

Your workshop has inspired me to get creative and start baking and decorating cakes. I am looking forward to organizing my next lesson (hopefully pirate ships)
.Once again many thanks! Look forward to more cakes
Kind regards
Melanie.

Hi Jackie, I enjoyed only having 4 people in the class, I believe this made it a lot easier to learn and also to get help from yourself and ask questions if needed.

At the end of the day, it was great to be able to take home what we accomplished and I can't believe we were able to create such a wonderful cake in only a day.
Thanks, Heaps
Katrina

I found the cake decorating classes to be exciting, informative, and very hands-on, which I loved.

It was great to be able to take home your work and show it to friends and families and listen to their ooohs and ahhhhs.

Jackie’s skills and expertise in the area of cake decorating are outstanding! I recommend any person that is interested in cake decorating to attend one of Jackie’s courses.

Regards, Verity.

Jackie’s cake decorating classes are amazing! As you can see her cakes are a work of art.

Looking at the cakes in her classes I remember thinking the cakes seemed too hard for such a beginner as myself, who had never decorated cakes to that extreme.

But in Jackie’s small classes she is able to help you with every step along the way, boosting your confidence and making a larger task an easier one.

Jackie is very helpful and attentive in all her classes and can even show you how to make any mark back to invisible. I have left every class appreciative, happy, and proud of the beautiful cakes, cupcakes, and flowers that Jackie has helped me achieve.

If your looking for cake decorating classes, you’ve found the best and I would recommend them to everyone. I have attended quite a few of Jackie’s classes now and she’s stuck with me because I’ll keep coming back for more.

Thank you for all your help Jackie and I will never forget what I have learned.
Lyndi.

Jackie,
Having had done some cake decorating courses in Brisbane and coming away feeling very disappointed, I decided to try Jackie’s workshop.
I couldn’t believe that after my first lesson I had learned so much more than I had in the 8 weeks at the other courses.

She is very generous with her knowledge and equipment. Nothing is a secret, she is willing to share everything she knows. Jackie is very organized, all equipment is there for you but the best feature is her small classes. She won’t be getting rid of me in a hurry!

What was the name and date of the workshop you attended?

Shooting Stars Sun 29 April

What were your reasons in attending the workshop?

I have been very interested in cake decorating for many years (it’s a dream job for me) and have always wanted to complete a class.

Did you find the class interesting,  appealing and enjoyable?

I absolutely loved the class. Jackie, you have so much passion/knowledge and it certainly shows in your work. I am eager to complete another course.

Did you find the class beneficial?

Yes, I learnt so much. I can’t wait to practice my new found skills with family and friends.

Did you learn any new skills or tips that you can now use?

I’ve dabbled into cake decorating but never with sugar paste which has been something that I have always wanted to do. So everything in the class for me was very useful. The information was very detailed. Well done Jackie!

Did you leave knowing you have learnt the skills you were wanting to achieve?

Yes and then some. As the class was a beginner, I now have the basic tools and information to bake and decorate a cake.

Was the full-day workshop too long?

It was a long day, but I didn’t think it was “too” long. For me, I think a beginners class is fine for a day.

Would have liked to have a morning or afternoon tea break? No, not really.

Do you think the class was value for money in your learning? Yes

Did the folder and the printed information and templates help as we went through the various stages?

Yes, but I am more a visual person when I learn. So watching Jackie completing each stage

Was very useful   for me. But I do have to print outs to look to now while I’m at home practising my new found skills.

Would you recommend this workshop to your friends and any cake decorators and why?

I definitely would. In fact, I already have. Jackie, you make the classes fun and interesting.

Did you enjoy your lunch and beverages, were you adequately attended to? Yes

What did you think of the class facilities? I thought your work area was a great space. Very inviting. Loved it!

Cindys class feedback

What was the name and date of the workshop you attended?
Bow cake class

What were your reasons for attending the workshop?

I have made a few kid’s birthday cakes with fondant, just by learning through online videos on YouTube, etc & wanted to learn in a face-to-face environment.

Did you find the class interesting,  appealing, and enjoyable?

Very much so – I thought that Jackie was so helpful & no one was left behind. They provided the right amount of guidance, without being overbearing.

Jackie was very funny & made the class interesting.

Did you find the class beneficial?

Yes, I learned so many wonderful tips that I would have never found out. I can use them to tackle my son’s next birthday cake with confidence!

Did you learn any new skills or tips that you can now use?

Yes, I had been using buttercream (instead of chocolate ganache) & having huge problems getting the sugar paste smooth. The class was full of wonderful tips, such as using the Perspex to get the sugar paste the right thickness and also using the Xray to smooth it.

Did you leave knowing you have learned the skills you were wanting to achieve?

Definitely!

Was the full-day workshop too long?

No, it didn’t feel like a whole day as there were lots of breaks & it was fun! But I was very tired that night – don’t know how you do it all the time J

Would have liked to have a morning or afternoon tea break?
No, I found that having coffee & biscuits while Jackie spoke was nice, I didn’t think an actual break was needed.

Do you think the class was value for money in your learning?
Yes – initially it seems like a lot of money, but when you think that all materials are provided, along with lunch, etc,  it’s value for money.

Did the folder and the printed information and templates help as we went through the various stages?

Yes, it was good to have the basics on paper, so that I could just add notes as we worked.

Would you recommend this workshop to your friends and any cake decorators and why?

Definitely! It was lovely to share Jackie’s love of cakes. I would love to do a class every month if I had unlimited money J

Did you enjoy your lunch and beverages, were you adequately attended to?
Yes, the sandwiches were so delicious & fresh. The multigrain bread was beautiful!!

What did you think of the class facilities?
They are wonderful – lots of space, clean & so nice to be working among all the amazing cakes that Jackie has decorated.

Is there any additional feedback you might like to add?

I honestly can’t suggest anything that I’d change about the class. I thought that Jackie was a wonderful teacher – lots of patience mixed with great humor.

I didn’t feel left behind at any stage, because as soon as I felt a little confused, Jackie was there to help out. I really felt so proud when I got home & showed my family the cake. And even more proud when we ate it – it didn’t last more than a few days – we ate it so fast.

What was the name and date of the workshop you attended?
Baking Cupcake Class

What were your reasons for attending the workshop? Improve baking skills and also get a basic understanding of decorating principals.

Did you find the class interesting,  appealing and enjoyable?

Most definitely!  The class moved quickly which kept in interesting; there was a great variety of techniques involved, and Jackie made it possible for all of us to complete the tasks and helped us out where necessary so that we all finished with great looking cupcakes!

Did you find the class beneficial?

Without a doubt!  I had essentially no knowledge of decorating so I learnt lots of basic knowledge but also little tips and tricks, all of which help to be able to make a great looking product.

Did you learn any new skills or tips that you can now use?

Per above, yes, it’s the little things that help, such as folding the butterflies over a piece of foam backwards to get the beautiful bent shape, so simple, yet so effective.

Did you leave knowing you have learnt the skills you were wanting to achieve?

Yes, and so much more.  I made cupcakes that looked better than I ever thought I could.  I was impressed with the range of different tools and techniques that we got to play around with!

Was the full-day workshop too long?

No, whilst it was a long day, I think in order to bake cupcakes as well as decorate and learn all the things that we did, this length of time was necessary.  There were ample opportunities to sit down if required.

Would have liked to have a morning or afternoon tea break?

Not necessarily, I wouldn’t have minded if we did, but felt fine without one.  We sort of had a break for morning tea where we all got a drink and could have biscuits anyway, and it was good timing in that we could enjoy this while listening to some information.

Do you think the class was value for money in your learning?
Yes, when you consider the length of the class and how much we learnt, I believe it was value for money.

Did the folder and the printed information and templates help as we went through the various stages?

I didn’t use the folder too much on the day as it was easier to listen, rather than read, however, the folders are invaluable to take home and refresh our memories.  Also loved having the notepaper to add our own notes and hints etc as we went.

Would you recommend this workshop to your friends and any cake decorators and why?

Yes, I already have!  Simply for all of the above reasons!

Did you enjoy your lunch and beverages, were you adequately attended to?
Yes, there was a good choice of beverages (both hot and cold) which was nice as I am not a hot drink drinker!  The lunch was sufficient.

What did you think of the class facilities?
Excellent facilities.  When you turn up at someone’s home, you get a little bit worried about the facilities you will be working in, then when we walked out to the extra room, however, I was delighted.  Everything you could ask for was there, the displays were beautiful and the workstations were handy – I enjoyed having an area that was “mine” where we could place our belongings and where we had a set of tools each to use.
Is there any additional feedback you might like to add?

Thank you!
