March Classes

Saturday 3rd March 2012.
Beginners 2 Shooting stars cake workshop 9.30am -6pm .
Cost of class $340 +gst Total to pay $374.
1 day.

In this class you will decorate a round chocolate mud cake. You will learn how to level your cake, ganache your cake in preparation for covering with sugar paste. Sugar paste wired stars will be made to decorate your cake. We will learn how to make sugar paste cut outs and apply to the cake.

Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes. A light lunch and refreshments are provided.



Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th of March
Beginners 14 Peony roses sugar flower workshop 10-6pm. Cost of class $640 + gst Total cost $704. Suitable for all. 2 day class


This class will take place over 2 days. In this class you will make and take home an arrangement of sugar flowers. The flowers made will be open and closed peony roses with foliage and leaves. Flower handouts and flower paste recipes will be available at the end of the class. The flowers made, will be displayed on a dummy cake to take home.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided on both days. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.



Wednesday 7th of March 2012.
Beginners 4 B cookies 10- 6pm Wedding cookies/favours Cost of class $340 + gst Total cost $374. 1 day class

In this class you will make and bake vanilla short bread cookies. You will then learn how to roll to the right thickness and then bake the biscuits. We will then learn how to cover and decorate the cookies with sugar paste. And then you will create 6 of your own designs with some guidance.
The biscuits are decorated with sugar paste using a variety of cutters, flower cutters and embossers.
Learn the various ways to display the biscuits and have a lovely gift to give.

We will also learn how to package them in suitable packaging with the use of cello bags and decorative ribbon.

A light lunch will be provided and refreshments. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.


Monday 12th of March 2012.
Beginners 12 Royal icing piping class -10-5pm Cost of class $320 + gst Total cost $352. Basic Introduction to Piping.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to pipe? In this class we will learn how to pipe/write, how to colour royal icing, embellish and how to brush embroidery all with royal icing. We will make fresh royal icing as well as use the commercial readily available .We will use parchment piping bags as well as the coupling system. Learn the tricks of the trade and see your skills develop.

 Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided on both days.




 

Saturday 17th of March 2011
New class*** Baby Shower Cookie Bouquet workshop 9.30am to 6pm Cost of Class $340+gst Total cost $374.  1 day class.

In this class you will make and bake vanilla shortbread biscuit and learn how to roll to the right thickness and baking the biscuits will be shown. You will then make and bake assorted shaped cookies with attached cookie sticks. We will learn how to use sugar paste and decorate the cookies and create baby bottles, prams, romper suits and more!

A light lunch will be provided and refreshments. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th of March 2012.
Intermediate 1 Fairytale princess castle This is a 2 day class.  Cost of class $640  + gst. Total to pay $704. 10-6pm

Fairy tale princess castle, based on a popular fairy tale design we will be making a similar 3d design shaping and carving cake with the use of additional Styrofoam. This is only suitable for students already familiar with carving and shaping and ganaching cakes with the introduction to using and covering Styrofoam.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

This class is only available if you have completed either beginners 2 or 3 class, as you will need to have learnt the stages of preparing your cake for ganaching and covering your cake with sugar paste before advancing to the next classes.

 

Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd of March 2012.
New for 2012 Intermediate 11  2 tier round stacked beach themed cake.Cost of class $650 + gst Total cost $715. 2 day class.

You will learn how to cover and stack a 2 tier round cake. Using ganache and sugar paste to cover your cake and how to safely stack your cakes with internal dowels will be taught. You will learn how to marble sugar paste to achieve a beautiful effect covering. Using the latest sanding sugars and we will also create edible sugar shells to create a beautiful beach themed celebration cake. You will also have the opportunity to use an air brush to create decorative details for your seashells.

A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.





Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of March 2012
Intermediate 9  Mad Hatters/ Topsy Turvey or Wonky Cake 10-6pm Cost of Class $720  + gst Total to pay. $792.


You will learn how to carve and get the correct angles and securely stack the cakes. Learn how to carve the cake, so that it presents beautifully. A fabulous designed cake that can be decorated in so many ways. You will learn how to create a striped effect ensuring a balanced and smooth covering and create a beautiful sugar paste bow on top of the cake.

A light lunch will be provided and refreshments. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.




You will need to attend either Beginners 2 or 3 first and then Beginners 5, 6 or 7 class in order to attend any of the the intermediate classes.The designs are harder to create and you will need previous cake decorating skills achieved through previous classes and of course practice. The classes usually have a lot more to do and require practised skills, than say in a one day class suitable for a beginners.


 

 Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of March 2012.
Intermediate 8.Tiffany Cake workshop Cost of class $650 + gst. Total to pay $715. 10-6pm. 2 day class

A 2 tier square stacked cake finished with a classic Tiffany Bow on top .In this 2 day workshop you will learn how to carve and ganache 2 square cakes. Learn how to colour your sugar paste and then cover the ganached cakes with sugar paste, creating nice sharp edges. The use of stacking the cakes with dowels will be shown how to make a show stopping bow looped bow.

A light lunch will be provided and refreshments. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.



This class is only available if you have completed either beginners 2 or 3 class, as you will need to have learnt the stages of preparing your cake for ganaching and covering your cake with sugar paste before advancing to the next classes

Saturday 31st of March 2012.

Beginners 3 Bow cake workshop 9.30 am -6pm. Cost of class $340 + gst Total to pay $374. 1 day class 9.30 am -6pm

In this class you will learn how to level your round cake, ganaching your cake in preparation for covering with sugar paste. Sugar paste ribbons will be made to decorate your cake with a show topping bow, placed on top. You will learn how to make sugar paste cut outs and how to apply to the cake.

A light lunch will be provided and refreshments. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes

I am based in Daisy Hill south of Brisbane approx. 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and just over and I hour from the Sunshine Coast. I am just of exit 24 of the Pacific highway, very close to my favourite store Ikea!

All classes require full payment before attending , I will send you the booking and payment details if you choose to pay via internet banking or by cheque. If you have not paid, you will not be booked in. Bookings are made on a first in basis.


Once payment has been received I will email you with a booking confirmation and receipt of payment.

Payments can be made by online via this website through PayPal or by internet banking, payment by cheque made payable to Contemporary Cakes and Classes or a money order available to buy at Australia post.

 

Gift vouchers are also available to purchase.


If a class is cancelled, a full refund of the class will be made, or if you choose, transferred to another class to the same value.

Please contact me for further details. Corporate classes are also available as well as private classes of your own friends or family members, classes must be a minimum of 4 students.

Once you have registered and paid for a class, you have purchased your place in the workshop and there are no refunds or cancellations possible for any reason. By purchasing this course you agree to this policy. Please note if you are unable to attend you are able to send a friend in your place.
