Proud to be an Abia Awards Wedding cake finalist for 2008,2009,2010,2011.
On tuesday 20th May 2008 I attended the annual ABIA awards. The Australian bridal industry awards was held at Royal on the Park.
I had received an email from the ABIA letting me know that I was a nominee for the Abia awards in the cake design category and was in the top 10 of 82 cake designers. I was pleased that my bridal couples had taken time to vote for me. Soon after I received a list of finalist with my name on it!
Bridal couples can vote for a minimum of 4 wedding suppliers and then vote for one particular supplier who was more outstanding than the others.
Visit www.abia.com.au and select vote and you can rate your wedding supplier.
Melissa Heath, owner of Weddings, Christenings and Anything bridal store, where my cakes are displayed, was also a finalist for her beautiful bridal stationary.
Together we attended the awards dinner and sat with Annie, functions manager and her friendly staf ffrom The Glen Hotel, who came second in their category.
When the cake design category was announced I sat nervously, similar to being at the dentist! I came in 6th place . Wow !I was very happy with that and my thanks to all the couples that voted for me.
I received the voting percentages a week later and was pleased to see that I had the highest score in the top 6 for quality of product. Highest score in the top 6 for value for money and highest score in the top 6 with 100% for attitude of staff (this does not take into account when my 14 year old son, sometimes answers the phone, in between his mood swings!!!)
Having only worked my cake business full time, since October last year, after finally leaving my Head Chefs position, I did not have the same volume of cakes as the other finalists, but this year watch out!
Thank you to all the brides who voted for me! Your support is greatly appreciated.
