About Me
My husband, son and I emmigrated 7 years ago and settled in to a lovely area of Brisbane, Daisy Hill and was very fortunate to meet such lovely neighbours, friends and work colleagues and through that my business has grown.
My cake business was allready established in the UK, so emmigrating to Australia I had to begin all over again.
My first two wedding cakes were for my neighbours children and so my business grew from there. I hung up my chefs hat, 3 years ago to concentrate on my cake business full time and I have not looked back.We have no family here ( although they make up for it on their 5-7 week visits!) and having had a successful cake business in the UK, I had to start from scratch. So word of mouth is the best advertising and my thanks to my customers who have done this for me. My thanks also to my lovely husband and son for their great support.
I am the the founder and sole proprietor. After attending a tertiary college and completed a two year city & guild am a qualified chef and pastry chef. In 2004 I completed a city & guild in Sugarcraft and Royal Icing course. My learning is ongoing and I have travelled overseas to update my skills in this beautiful creativity.I also teach cake baking and decorating so visit my section for all cake class information.
I have produced food and cakes, which have appeared in various film, BBC television programmes and food commercials including: Bridget Jones Diary, Finding Neverlands, Wimbledon and have catered for royalty Duchess of Wessex (H.R.H. Prince Edwards wife).
All cakes are made in licensed and food approved premises.
What makes me and my business quite unique, I make and bake all my own cakes and do not source from a bakery,as well as teach cake decorating classes and encourage students to do the same.
I love to meet my clients, discuss and finalise their cake design and then make the magic happen. Creating that perfect cake also creates lasting good memories.I also like the fact that once they have had a cake from me, I will be then become their personal cakemaker.I love it when I create a 21st cake then the engagement cake, then the wedding cake and then perhaps the christening!
My love for teaching also came about when I worked as a chef and I think my classes are growingin popularity as I break the stages of the cake decorating into easier manageable stages, the same way as I trained my apprentices.
Cake classes are available for total beginners, as well as more advanced and challenging designs and I teach how to bake cakes, cupcakes, cookies and macaroons too!
My classes are professional, enjoyable and have amazing results and I create a wonderful enviroment to learn by having the very best cake decorating facilities, up to date tools and offer further extras in each class that I teach.
My classes are small with 6 or less students, so why would you want to go anywhere else?
I also offer after class help, via telephone or email for any other cake advise that you may need.
Business workshops are offerred on how to become licensed and registered for cake makers, as well as I offer mentoring sessions to cake makers wanting to know all the extras to their business.
I have now helped several cake makers to become licensed and look forward to helping more cake artists.
I believe in helping and sharing what I do and I aim to inspire people with this fantastic yummy creativity and once you walk into my cake studio you will clearly see I am a cake a holic!
My plans for 2012 are to write my cake decorating book and to appear on television again!
